As Sue and Gerry were previously teachers it is very clear
that educating children and adults is a very important
part of Grovely. In the past the British Horse Society
had no system in teaching children stable management
unless they were part of a registered Pony Club. During
an approvals inspection, which is an annual event, the
inspector noticed our training scheme which involved
children passing Novice, Elementary and Intermediate
Tests to evaluate their progress in both riding and
stable management. The scheme, which Gerry demised had been created to safeguard children helping particularly at Grovely and the B.H.S. "borrowed" that scheme and generalised it for all centres. We have decided to change to the B.H.S. format so that if clients move they can take their qualifications with them and it will be nationally recognised. The new system will come in from the summer season and we hope everyone enjoys taking part. |
